Recital Hall Streaming

In 2016 Cooper spearheaded a project to add video streaming capability to the College of Fine Arts and Communication Recital Hall at Western Illinois University.  The project included the installation of 5 remotely controlled cameras that enable high definition audio and video streaming of live concert events.  Cooper pulled together a coalition of university resources that included University Television, and internal budgetary resources to plan and implement the equipment, software and infrastructure necessary to accomplish transform the COFAC Recital Hall into a state-of-the-art video production facility that has enabled significant outreach for the School of Music.

Biometric Scanning for Recital Attendance Tracking

Recital Attendance Tracking

Another innovative project Cooper developed was the use of a biometric scanner for Recital Hall Attendance Tracking for students.  Because students have a certain number of recitals that are required  for attendance each semester, a method needed to be developed that would be a secure way for students to demonstrate their attendance at allowed events.  This biometric scanner reads the face of the student and logs them into the clock when they arrive at an event.  When they leave, they stand in front of the unit again for approximately 2 seconds and the clock reads their face and creates another time stamp.  The data is saved by the clock and uploaded to a database that integrates with a course that keeps the record of attendance for the students.  There is no possibility of defeating the system.  The clock reads the depth of facial features with special scanning technology.  For students who can not scan their face in a touchless manner, who may be in a wheelchair, a fingerprint scanner is available which is the glowing green light on the right side of the device. This system has served the School of Music at Western Illinois University flawlessly for many years.
